Galentine Photos for Erin and Mika

We were destined to be friends from the start. Erin found me on instagram (you can too! http://www.instagram.com/dalebenfield) and we immediately hit it off fast and furious. She is super pretty, ridiculously funny, and sweet as southern ice tea. She has the prettiest girlfriend, Mika, who is a talented photographer too, and we all just connected instantly.

The same sex couple was interested in doing a valentine’s day shoot – ummmm “galentine’s” maybe is more appropriate! Even though it was FREEEEZING outside, we powered through and captured some really sweet and romantic images. Of course, they were able to keep each other warm… on the other hand, my fingers froze. (see what I did there with the hand and fingers?)

While we didn’t shoot for very long (I think the entire shoot took 15 minutes?), we captured a ton of blog worthy winners because these two are so obsessed with each other. That makes my job incredibly easy!

There aren’t any differences shooting same sex couples… I do most of the same poses; that is, I just let the couple interact and love on one another while I’m working on focusing, composition, and camera settings. As with any shoot, I try to be in the moment with them, and these two were two of the best at being in the moment, naturally, with one another. The shoot was a super success in that 1) I captured images I’m really proud of and 2) I solidified my new friendship with my new favorite lesbian couple! Here are my favorite images from the shoot.
