This blog is kind of like a wedding blog, so I thought today we could discuss the Top 5 Wedding Movies of All Time. I know… so controversial, right? 😉

I’m a huge Hallmark fan, and while I’d love to include all my favorite wedding-related Hallmark movies into the mix, I think we need to stick to the high-production, “real” wedding movies. Don’t worry, it hurt me to write that even more than it hurt you to read it.

Okay, so coming in at #5 is: About Time. There’s time travel, so that makes it science fiction, right? Haha! I love this movie for so many reasons. First, he gets do-overs. Don’t you ever wish you could have a do-over right after you fumble something? Also, this has my top two celebrity crushes in it: Margot Robbie and Rachel McAdams. Finally, I love that our main character overcomes temptation and stays faithful to his wife. Big fan, big fan. It’ll make you laugh, and it’ll make you cry. And in the end, it has a pretty sweet message about life.

Next on our list of Top 5 Wedding Movies of All Time is: The Wedding Singer. Okay, if for no other reason, this deserves to be on the list because of the soundtrack. Back in the day of CDs, I owned BOTH installments of The Wedding Singer soundtrack. Then of course you have Adam Sandler, who was my best friend in college. Okay, that’s a lie. What I mean is, I watched an Adam Sandler movie almost daily when I’d be studying or doing homework in my college dorm. But the real reason this movie is on this list is this: the good guy gets the girl.

Okay, for#3 in the Top 5 Wedding Movies of All Time has to be: Bridesmaids. It’s probably the funniest wedding movie ever made. I love Kristen Wiig in anything she does, but this has an incredible cast from top to bottom. The dress shop/diarrhea scene had me rolling the first time I ever watched this.

Next up, coming in at #2 for is: The Wedding Planner. I debated this one a lot. I don’t love that the groom was kind of a scumbag (even if he was marrying the wrong girl) when you think about it. However, it’s good that he figured his crap out BEFORE the wedding instead of after he said his I Dos. However, I put this on the list because of J-LO, in honor of her real-life wedding to Ben. Second chances and true love all wrapped up in one!

And finally, the #1 on my list for Top 5 Wedding Movies of All Time – yes, that means it’s the best wedding movie IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD – is none other than: Father of the Bride.

(maybe it’s because Ellie turns 18 in 3 hours, but this father/daughter stuff is really getting me lately). Well done, Steve Martin and Martin Short. Y’all have brought me to tears (both hysterically and emotionally) every time I’ve watched this movie.

Runners up on this list: My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Mamma Mia!

Okay, now back to the Hallmark Channel we go for Christmas in July. Christmas Wedding Planner, anyone?

Talk to you soon,
Dale

P.S. Disagree with my choices? What did I leave out?
