A few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of photographing my friend and sorority sister, Carmen. We were both Pi Phis at the University of Oklahoma, though she was a few years younger than me. We both ended up in Northwest Arkansas and now get to hang out on the regular. When I asked her to do a boudoir shoot for me, she agreed and I was over the moon.
One of my favorite parts of photographing Carmen is that she is so in tune with herself and her body. That’s no surprise, she’s a professional ballerina and has danced her entire life. She’s always acutely aware of how her body moves and flows. It makes my job super easy! I spitball a few ideas and sit back and push buttons.
Another reason Carmen is a photographer’s dream is that she is an actual ray of sunshine. No matter the angle, no matter the situation … no matter the camera … she’s always looking so beautifully radiant. There’s no Photoshop, no lighting fix, no filter that can bring that out. She’s such a joy, both in pictures and in life, and I’m so happy to have her as a friend.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed shooting them!
