Broken Heart

Day 13 update: Well, I have good news and bad news. I’ll start with the good news: I got to feed Avett again this morning and he ate the entire amount and was still a little hungry (check out the rooting photo). He was very alert and very active for a couple of hours, and we had lots of sweet bonding.

The bad news is that the nurse practitioner came to give him a listen, as they do each day, and she said Avett has a heart murmur. A little hole in his heart that hasn’t fixed itself. Of course, my imagination goes straight to the worst possible outcomes, but hopefully, we won’t have to have surgery. That would break this daddy’s heart too. They will listen to it again sometime Thursday, and if it’s still there, they will do an ultrasound to get a look at it. Please send all the positive thoughts Avett’s way.

Broken Leg

In other news, Cece broke her tibia at school on Monday. She is in a lot of pain and will meet with an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to figure out the best plan of action (she might have torn her acl as well). I hate that she is in so much pain and can’t do anything for her. Currently, she is in a cast that covers most of her leg and is in a wheelchair. She’s the sweetest girl and has been so fun and loving toward Avett, Scout, and Ellie. Bless her heart.
