I have some Wedding Same Day Teasers from Nick and Marie’s wedding… TODAY! I’ve also airdropped these images to the bride so she has them to post on her social media. I like having the first photos from a wedding be my photos (or the professional’s photos) instead of a guest’s. The bride deserves to have her first impression of her wedding be something that is creative and technically perfect.
So yes, notice the date on the wedding program. Just a little proof that Wedding Same Day Teasers are possible! I love this shot I snagged at the reception. I can’t wait to show y’all more, but in the meantime, I’ll walk you through my process of how I edit images quickly on the wedding day.
Step 1 for Wedding Same Day Teasers: Get it Right in Camera
It’s important if you’re going to offer same day teasers that you shoot images well in the camera. Relying on “fixing photos in post” doesn’t work for same-day sneak peeks from a wedding. Be sure to nail exposure and white balance. Not only does it help you get sneak peeks to your bride, but it’s great for the best photo editing workflow.
Step 2 for Wedding Same Day Teasers: Use the Canon App to Connect Your Phone to Your Camera
If you shoot with Canon cameras, download the Canon app. This app allows you to connect your phone to your camera, enabling you to view and download images. You can also use this app to remote shoot, but that’s a different blog post. By accessing the images on your card without downloading it, you can quickly select and download a few favorite images that don’t require any editing. Check out these images from the first look and pre-wedding portraits. They require zero editing so a quick download to my phone and the bride has something fun to show off right away.
Step 3 for Wedding Same Day Teasers: Use Lightroom Presets
My final step of getting images ready for a same day airdrop to the bride involves Adobe Lightroom. I import my 10 or so images into lightroom. Then, I apply one of a few presets I developed for my wedding workflow. Yes, I created mobile presets from my own desktop presets. 🙂 If you don’t have mobile presets, there are a ton for sale online. One of these days, I might even sell mine to photographers. Anyway, I slap on a preset and it’s ready to go out the door!
The entire process takes less than 10 minutes. The part that takes the longest is choosing the images I want to download. However, knowing what I’ve shot and taking mental notes throughout the day speeds up this process.
In the world of immediate gratification and with the advancements in digital technology, it’s important to stay on top of it all to provide the best service and product for your clients. Same day wedding teasers are a great example of how to do this.
Talk to you soon,
Dale
