Today my baby girl turns 16 years old. I’ve told myself that at least a hundred times today, because I heard once that if you hear something enough you start to believe it. Well, I can’t believe it.

Have you ever had someone look up to you and love you unconditionally? Like, truly unconditionally? I feel that love from Ellie. She’s helped me be the best me possible, and has taught me how to be a dad.

She brings so much to our family. I’ve talked many times about how her relationship with Cece has been challenging (Cece used to be cold to Ellie – for years and years), but Ellie put in the hard work, without ever showing if her feelings were hurt, and loved Cece unconditionally. That consistent, unwavering love has won Cece over, and has even helped Cece become a better big sister to Scout.

To say that I’m proud doesn’t seem like enough. I admire, respect, trust, and love Ellie so much. She has consistently showed her maturity with decision making, with her actions, and with her words. She builds others up and sees the best in her friends. I thank God every night when I pray for giving me Ellie.
