Yes, you read that caption right. Today’s post shares photos taken of us, not photos I have taken. I think it is so important (as I’ve said many times) that as photographers we need to have our own photos taken. For multiple reasons:
1) You remember how it feels to be in front of the camera, which helps you behind the camera.
2) You often use so much energy and focus making sure your clients’ photos are great that you have little left in the tank for your own photos.
3) You get to support other artists.
4) You learn how other photographers work, and maybe even pick up a trick or two.
I found Gabi on Instagram, and as she and I messaged back and forth leading up to the Benfield Family trip to Paris, I felt very comfortable with her. (there were about 10 others that didn’t give me the same vibes). I was happy it worked out, and I think Gabi did a great job of capturing us. I don’t love my photos being taken and probably could have used some more direction, but these are a beautiful representation of my family.
Talk to you soon,
Dale
