This Chicago Athletic Association Wedding proved to be something straight out of a magazine! For details on this immaculate wedding, check out this blog post. Emma and Jarred’s black-tie wedding exuded timeless class and style. To further solidify this, they chose the Chicago Athletic Association, a historic hotel in Chicago. The hotel (and reception ballroom) overlooks Millenium Park and Lake Michigan. Needless to say, we used the location to our advantage when we photographed their wedding portraits.

Because we all stayed at the hotel as well, coordinating the first look was easy. I scouted locations the day prior and found this marble staircase tucked away behind the lobby. I knew it would be perfect because it 1) is gorgeous, and 2) it was semi-private. It turned out to be an amazing spot visually.

The ceremony ballroom also dropped jaws. The stunning chandeliers hung from the ceiling with such a grand presence.

First kiss as husband and wife. This always feels so special to me, and each time I feel honored to be the photographer at one of life’s most important events.

As previously stated, we went up to Cindy’s Rooftop for the portraits of the newlyweds. Check out that view! This shot was tricky because the background was so much brighter than on the rooftop. Thankfully, I have managed situations like this tons of times so I had a few tricks up my sleeve to get the image you see below.

About The Chicago Athletic Association Reception

The reception stunned me with its historic and classic beauty. The couple really allowed the features of the ballroom to shine throughout their reception.

You know me… I’ve always got one eye on the bride in case something like this happens. I just love an emotional bride, don’t you?

The Chicago Athletic Association Wedding reception doubled as a huge party! What a fun night full of delicious food, great music, and fun dancing! I’m sure it was everything Jarred and Emma hoped for!
