The Avett Brothers

The Benfields have a deep love for the Avett Brothers. Our first kiss was at an Avett Brothers concert. We have traveled to multiple states and even down to Mexico to hear their music. The words inspire us, and the music moves us; it makes us feel alive. When we talk about our story, the Avett Brothers are playing in the background.

Tyler’s Dad

Tyler’s dad, Alan, is one of the most wonderful men I’ve ever known. He is charismatic, and makes you feel important anytime you talk with him. He is a fellow #girldad so he understands my view on fatherhood. There’s no book on what to look for in a father-in-law, but if I could write one, he would fit the bill. He is approachable, open-minded, non-judgemental, fun, creative, and kind. He also wears his heart on his sleeve (kinda like me). In the past week, I’ve seen him cry no less than 5 times. He’s the greatest father-in-law I could ask for.

I also asked Tyler to write down a little something about Alan. “Alan is my dad’s name. My dad is a pretty great guy. He works hard, he admits his mistakes, he’s a good man. He’s the kind of man that I’d like my son to see and to watch and to imitate.”

Baby Brother

We can’t call Baby Brother “Baby Brother” forever. Though it might remain a nickname, I don’t think they want us to put that on his birth certificate. But we have a name! We waited until we saw our little rockstar in person. You never know… the human you see might not fit the name you had planned. Tyler had a list of about 10 boy names, but agreed that our little guy looks like an Avett. Avett Allen Benfield. That’s a cool name.
