I would be lying if I said I “recently” took some Fine Art Parent Portraits of Tyler’s mom and dad. Actually, I made them sit for me in my portable studio before Christmas. But, that’s what it’s like when you shoot fine art wedding photography as your career… your personal images get put on the perpetual back burner.

All that being said, I’m really happy to have these Fine Art Parent Portraits of Tyler’s parents. They are such a FUN “Nana” and “Baba” and are so very intentional with Scout. I’m not sure a day has gone by that they haven’t facetime called her, and they drive up to NW Arkansas all the time to spend time with her. When they were here last weekend, Scout gave real kisses without prompting, which I hardly ever get!

While I don’t say it enough, it takes a village to raise a kid and I’m so thankful for the folks in my village. They help out so much with Scout (and our fur-boy, Louie). I feel really lucky to have hit the mom-in-law and dad-in-law jackpot. On that note, I’ve always wanted a set of parents I enjoy as much as my own parents (which is hard to achieve), and I had never found that until I met the Sowers family. Tyler’s dad is really fun, and a creative (for a career) like me. And Tyler’s mom loves to cook (like I do) and we have the same sense of humor. Most of all, they raised an incredible woman that is pretty much the best thing this world offers, so obviously… well done.

Don’t you just love this fine art black and white series? It makes you really focus on the person instead of what they’re wearing, what the background is, etc. Here are some fine art grandparent photos. And here are some fine art family photos in black and white. Oh, and here are some that I did for Amanda Stanton’s engagement photos. If you want portraits of your family (or of yourself), contact Benfield Photography.

Talk to you soon,
Dale

P.S. Mom, when you read this… get your butt down here (and bring Dad) so we can shoot Fine Art Parent Portraits of y’all!
